AÏCHA BASTIEN N'DIAYE
From the Wendat nation, Aïcha Bastien-N’Diaye was introduced to movement through traditional Guinean dance while growing up in Wendake. Instinctively generating an homogeneous mix between her strong cultures, her enthusiasm for the physicality and expressiveness of dance quickly guided her towards professional training at L’École de danse de Québec.
Using her voice to inspire her communities as much as via social media as on stage, adept of running and weightlifting, content creator, Aïcha considers that transmission through movement in all its versatility makes dance a current medium of change and innovation.
Multidisciplinary artist, having exhibited one of her works, "Dance Your Anxiety Away", in a Slow Factory installation at MoMA PS1 in New York, she also performed in the play "Marguerite, Le Feu" by Émilie Monnet. More recently, she co-hosts season 2 of Décoloniser l’histoire, a web series produced by Picbois Productions and broadcasted online by Télé-Québec.
She often repeats that “an artist's bio might be cute and all, but it's their art that really speaks.”
