Danayit Zeru is an Ottawa-based multidisciplinary artist working across photography, curatorial practice, and poetic expression. Born and raised in Ethiopia, her work is shaped by themes of memory, identity, and the emotional dimensions of belonging. Her practice explores the internal and cultural landscapes that inform how individuals experience selfhood, displacement, and continuity.

Working between visual and conceptual approaches, Zeru is interested in atmosphere, introspection, and narrative, often engaging with the subtle tensions between personal history and present experience. Her work is guided by a sensitivity to feeling, nuance, and the layered nature of lived experience.

Alongside her artistic practice, Zeru is also a student, a position that informs her critical engagement with representation, meaning-making, and the social and cultural contexts surrounding creative work. Across disciplines, her practice reflects an ongoing inquiry into perception, identity, and the ways inner and external worlds intersect.
