Virginia Jessica Sparvier-Wells, Beverley McKiver, and Kathryn Cobbler join forces as askiy collective to perform Indigenous contemporary works.

askiy collective is dedicated to performing, composing, and commissioning music by Indigenous composers. Sparvier-Wells and McKiver form the heart of askiy collective, and call on additional members according to artistic goals.

V. J. Sparvier-Wells is an Alberta-based Cree, multi-disciplinary artist. She is a member of Cowessess First Nation. She interweaves land, Indigenous identity, history, and language throughout her music and dance practices.

Beverley McKiver is a composer and pianist living in Ottawa. Her compositions reflect themes of connection to the land and her Indigenous heritage. She is a member of Lac Seul First Nation.

Ottawa-based violist and composer Kathryn Patricia Cobbler has crafted a singular niche in music improvisation and classical performance. She was named a CBC Trailblazer in 2021 and is a recipient of an Ottawa Arts Council Emerging Artist award.
