Aylin Abbasi

Where: Arts Court
When: March 7 & 8

I am a video and performance artist. Through short, minimalistic videos, I explore personal narratives drawn from my experiences as an Iranian woman. My work often reflects themes of identity, cultural heritage, and resilience, using simplicity in form to amplify complex, intimate stories. My hair-bone sculpture explores themes of personal resistance to mandatory hijab and the "woman, life, freedom" movement that emerged in Iran in the fall of 2022. Hair has been a recurring and symbolic element in my practice, serving as a medium to address cultural, familial, and societal pressures.
