Brandon Stosuy is cofounder and editor in chief of The Creative Independent. He previously worked as Director of Editorial Operations at Pitchfork. Brandon cofounded Basilica SoundScape with Melissa auf Der Maur in 2013 and has been a music curator at MoMA PS1 and the Broad Museum. For the past 15 years, he and the artist Matthew Barney have collaborated on a series of live events and print publications. His anthology, Up is Up, But So Is Down: New York’s Downtown Literary Scene, 197452-1992 was published by NYU Press in 2006. He is also the author of three books on creativity, Make Time for Creativity, Stay Inspired, How to Fail Successfully (published by Abrams) and two children’s books, Music Is... and We Are Music (published by Simon & Schuster). His most recent book, Sad Happens: A Celebration Of Tears, is out on Simon & Schuster. He is currently at work on The Creative Independent: A Guide to Making Things, which will be published by FSG in 2028.
