Carmel Farahbakhsh is a community educator, arts maker, and youth worker based in Kjipuktuk (halifax).

They are deeply invested in their local creative community and believe that access to arts making is necessary in building the worlds that we deserve. Carmel has collaborated with artist-run centres/projects such as The Khyber Centre for the Arts and Take Back the Turret, and currently holds a position as co-director of local music festival EVERYSEEKER. They work as the Executive Director at the Youth Project as well, seeing a direct link between this community work and investment in the arts.

Carmel is also a violinist who artistic practice is rooted in sonic exploration and production/mixing, live sound-looped violin performance, vocalization/song and improvisational explorations. Carmel also collaborates cross-genre locally and beyond under moniker Saydah-Ruz.
