Carmina Miana's large-scale installation explores the concept of home through a glow-in-the-dark weaving inspired by the Filipino binakael pattern. By resembling a house frame and incorporating symbols of circles, voids, waves, and knots, the installation expresses themes of personal change and resilience, acting as a portal to domestic space and ones ideas of home. This work combines traditional craft techniques with contemporary themes, inviting viewers to reflect on comfort, identity, and the immigrant experience of reconstructing a sense of belonging. The installation builds upon Miana's previous explorations of binakael patterns, creating a deeply personal yet universally resonant piece for contemplation and gathering.
