Masahiro Takahashi + Brodie West
Toronto-based Japanese composer-musician Masahiro Takahashi has been crafting gently spellbinding pieces that simultaneously embrace electronic abstraction and a palpable, even brittle, humanity. His delicate and evocative landscapes always seem to be illuminated in vibrant magic hour tones as golden synth lines emanate from between soft flickers of acoustic instrumentation. He has released music on an array of labels, such as Telephone Explosion Records, Not Not Fun, Jj Funhouse, and Slow Editions.
Masahiro will be joined by Brodie West, an alto saxophonist. Brodie is a leader of avant-calypso unit Eucalyptus, who has collaborated with legendary art-punks The Ex as well as the late Getatchew Mekuria, the revered veteran of the Ethiopian saxophone. As a bandleader and collaborator he is a key member of Toronto's vibrant creative music scene.
