Montreal Steppers

Kayin Queeley, born in the federation of St. Kitts & Nevis in the West Indies and now living in Montreal, Canada, is the founder of Montreal Steppers. He is an educator, choreographer and community leader. He unfailingly shares his love for step through his work with young people on campus and in other communities. Since founding the Montreal Steppers in 2019, Kayin and the team have produced and performed various productions across Canada. They have ran in-person and virtual workshops, both in Montreal and in the U.S. Through step, song, and spoken word, the Montreal Steppers center the importance of Black Lives, Black history/futurity and stories in hopes to inspire, strengthen solidarity, to be in good relation, to reimagine a just world where we can breathe, live, succeed, and thrive differently and together.

Montreal born and raised, Shaina has long been a member of the Montreal performing arts community, as a formally trained dancer and a member of the Montreal Gospel Choir. She is also one of the founding members of the Montreal Steppers, a non-profit organization established in 2019 that is centered on teaching Black history through the art of step.  Known for exceptional charisma and stage presence, Shaina brings energy, passion, and a commitment to excellence to every performance, no matter the size of the stage. When not performing, Shaina’s work is primarily centered on regulatory compliance in the pharmaceutical industry, but she also devotes much of her time as Board Member of the West Island Black Community Association, a local community-based charity. Whether through art, work or charity work, Shaina’s ultimate goal is to help foster change in the world by positively impacting all those who cross her path.
