ACT I: BACK IN MY DAY...

OTA Best Dressed
Gender Euphoria
Prize: $200 + Trophy
The 1970s is considered to be one of the more progressive decades of the 20th century and also was the Golden Era of the Ballroom scene. Disco: an inherently Black, Latin, and queer underground movement in which the music of disco dominated the global airwaves and the clubs. Pants were tight, shorts were high, hair was big, and the vibes were immaculate. All people wanted was to dance and have fun. Bring it in a look inspired by this golden age of queer culture.

Beginner Runway
Paris Is Burning
Prize: Trophy
In honour of the first Paris is Burning ball around 1981, bring it in a fit inspired by the fashion of the 1980s.

Hands PerformanceMime the House Down Boots
$150 + Trophy

Similar to pantomime, Hands Performance is about telling a story without words. Bring it in a classic all black fit with white gloves. Walkers will be seated.

Beginner PerformanceIn Memory Of...
Prize:  Trophy

Bring it in a look inspired by any of Ballroom's fallen angels and say her name.
*Must have a reference photo - will accept photos on a phone.

Tag Team Pop, Dip, & SpinVOGUE
Prize:  $150 + 2 Trophies

The late 1980s and early 1990s was around the time Ballroom entered into mainstream culture. In reference to songs like Malcom McLaren's “Deep in Vogue,” Queen Latifah's “Come into My House” and Madonna's “Vogue.” In the spirit of these music videos, in a tag team of two, bring it in a complimenting black and white look.
*Teams must be comprised of two walkers from different cities.

OTA FaceThe First Internet Baddies
Prize: $300 + Trophy

Queer people have had to come up with creative and secretive ways to find each other and to communicate throughout history. With the dawn of the internet and the rise of social media, it quickly became a tool for queer people to find community around the globe. Many would have multiple profile pages with alter egos, making it easier for closeted folx to live double lives, protecting their identity and safety in the real world while exploring who they are online. Inspired by MSN Messenger, BBM, MySpace, or Facebook logos from the early 2000s, bring it in the colour palette of those logos and serve the judges that stunning mug.

ACT II: QUEERTOPIA

Best Dressed Spectator100% PURE LOVE
Prize: Trophy
This is a category for spectators who feel that their look tonight is the most sickening of them all. Show up as your most authentic self and sell us your look from head to toe.

Tag Team RunwayPaleolithic C*nt
Prize: $450 + 2 Trophies

History as we know it is very biased. It's been told mostly from the perspective of cisgender, heterosexual, pale-skinned, male humans. We may have not been told much (or anything) about the contributions of queer humans throughout history, but we know queerness exists in those histories because nature is queer. If you could imagine Ballroom existing in the Paleolithic Era, what would it look like? Bring it in neutral tones inspired by the stone age.
* Teams must be comprised of two members from different cities.

Commentator vs CommentatorIT'S GIVING _____
Prize:  $150 + Trophy
Ballroom is responsible for most of the slang and lingo of the 2020s. Create a new word that would be used in the 3030s and help us understand its meaning through your commentating.

BizarreF*gs of the Universe
Prize: $300 + Trophy
The year is 4444 and the Andromeda Galaxy is hosting this year's Universe Pride. What do the citizens of these planets look like?

Team RealnessBasic B!tch
Prize:  $500 + 2 Trophies
In Queertopia, it's hard to imagine a life under a strict gender binary and rigid societal expectations of what a person is supposed to look and act like based off of their genitalia. Legend has it, there was once a moment in time where that was the reality for humans on planet Earth before the Great Awakening of 2024. In a team of two, bring it as a generic man and a generic woman of that time.
* Teams must be comprised of two walkers from different cities.

Sex SirenQueer Planet
Prize: $150 + Trophy
On Queer Planet, queerness is expressed all throughout nature. Find one interesting fact about homosexuality/gender roles in animals and then show us how they do it...
*Fact must be presented and must match the effect.

Tag Team PerformanceFeelin' The Mones
Prize: $650 + 2 Trophies
The trans women of Ballroom, AKA the Fem Queens, are the backbone of the culture. In honour of the creators of vogue femme, bring it in a classic white T and blue jeans (and UGG boots if ya nasty 😉).
*Teams must be comprised of two members from different cities.
