VELVET

Canadian-born Velvet has rapidly become one of the most in-demand international DJs in the Nation’s Capital. Drawing on her Haitian Caribbean roots, she expertly fuses a wide range of genres, including Hip Hop, RnB, Afro-Beat, Amapiano, and house music, offering her audience a dynamic and captivating experience.

Currently serving as the Main DJ at Skate & Play Roller-skating Center, Velvet has collaborated with a variety of artists, such as JUNO award-winner Charmaine, rising star Lia Kloud, and Afro-Caribbean vocalist Jessie Simmons. She has also graced prominent festivals, including Riverfest Elora, RBC Bluesfest, and Cranium Festival. In early 2023, she embarked on a festival tour with JUNO award-winning rapper Charmaine, performing at SXSW in Austin and New Colossus in New York City.

Velvet’s talents have not gone unrecognized. She was named DJ of the Year at the inaugural Recognize Awards by Cranium Arts Project. Her ability to navigate effortlessly across different musical styles, combined with her energetic stage presence, ensures a memorable experience for every crowd.

In March 2024, Velvet was invited to participate as dj during the Juno Award weekend in Halifax.
