Yurak

Where: TBA
When: TBA

Yurak is a non-binary multidisciplinary artist based out of Iqaluit, Nunavut. Their anaana is Inuk originally from Iglulik, NU and their ataata is Kichwa originally from Peguche, Ecuador.

All of Yurak’s art grows from a love for living. They create pieces of work as tools to elevate Inuit pride and self love while showcasing Inuit brilliance. Their art is a celebration of everyday life and a reminder to live lovingly. Often their subject is the envisionment of confident Inuit fully owning themselves in whatever way that may be. Yurak’s art ranges from hand pressed prints, digital illustrations to stained glass wall hangings and Inuit tattooing. They create to bring the magic of wholeness and joy into the world. Whether that is through their brightly coloured beadwork or depicting creatures of their imagination in their prints. In the end it is all to be given to those who need it.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the Algonquin Anishinaabeg people on whose land we operate. If you support our programming, please consider supporting a local Indigenous organization or fundraiser.
